As the seat of power moves to the capital of the European Union and away from the national seats of government, Brussels is increasingly becoming the decision-making heart of Europe. The EU is also the chief donor of development aid in the world and leads all external trade policy negotiations on behalf of the 27-strong bloc.

Increasingly, international organisations and grassroots advocacy groups are seeking to establish direct contact with EU institutions and communicate future political developments.
